International academics, made clearer
Your grades matter — but there is no single reliable formula that turns every international qualification into a US GPA.
Scottish Nationals, Highers & Advanced Highers
Scottish qualifications are assessed under Scotland-specific standards. Do not assume a Higher grade maps directly to a US GPA or that one qualification meets every college’s requirements.
Documents to prepare
- Official SQA qualification certificates
- School transcripts, including National qualifications and Highers
- Advanced Higher results where applicable
Three separate checks
1. University admission
The university decides whether your qualifications meet its entry standards. English-language tests and other admission requirements vary.
2. Athletic eligibility
The relevant association and institution assess academic and amateurism requirements. NCAA and NAIA processes are not interchangeable. Ask about requirements for your division and international status.
3. Scholarship eligibility
Academic awards can have separate thresholds and renewal conditions. Meeting admission requirements does not guarantee a scholarship.
Use official evaluations, not guesswork
Only the relevant evaluator can confirm your eligibility GPA and credential equivalence. NCAA country guidance sets out document requirements; international NAIA applicants should check InCred evaluation requirements. For NJCAA, confirm the college’s specific requirements. We deliberately don’t give an unofficial GPA conversion that could mislead your planning.
